With the mindset of a martial artist, this book gave me a much deeper understanding of my art.

I liked the writing style, but I read this book under the presupposition that it was supposed to be about aikido and judo, or at least about the martial arts in general. In fact, I found almost no mention of either aikido or judo in the book. It was more about the author's opinions on abstract concepts like trust and how to be a man in today's world, etc etc - none of which was particularly useful to me as a MA student. If you're looking for the late Karl Geis Sensei's general philosophies on life, this is the book for you. It will tell you all you ever wanted to know about what he thought of most anything outside of the dojo.
