Review # 1 was written on 2020-05-18 00:00:00 Ryan Van der nest The description says, "The book is both an introduction and a program for observing the Sabbath at home, focused on the core intention and goal of this weekly spiritual renewal." Unfortunately, if that is its goal, IMO is falls quite a bit short. I was expecting both an analysis/discussion of the liturgy and of the way Shabbos is observed on a more holistic level. It is more or less the former (although only those parts commonly sung/recited as part of one of the 3 Shabbos meals), but has little to none of the latter. I am still glad I bought it. It is both pretty and useful. It will join our (already large) collection of zimronim, and it has Birchas haYiladim (Friday night blessing said on one's children) to boot. But it's not at all what I thought I was buying. |
