Review # 1 was written on 2015-02-06 00:00:00 Margaret Watts This book was okay, but I didn't find it to be terribly interesting. A few of the anecdotes and stories were amusing at the end of the book, but honestly I found the refresher course on seed and plant biology to be the most interesting part. I wanted to read the second edition but it wasn't available at my local libraries, so I read the first which was published in 1996. This means that the author was not able to talk about genetically modified seeds, having not been used widely (if at all) yet. There were also a lot of typos and that always annoys me. Some of them were preposterously wrong (incorrectly labeled diagrams) which makes me wonder if anybody bothered to proof read the book before publishing. |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-12-25 00:00:00 Karl Oswald The beginning reads a bit like a high school text book, lots if information on how seeds grow and how to collect them. I was looking more for a book on growing vegetable but it more leaning toward garden flowers shurbs etc..... |
