I'm not a dog parent , but i was hired to fully translate this booklet to Farsi for a local pet training organization. Reading it was interesting for someone who's not a trainer and not even an owner. It offers you the three second major developmental deadlines for your puppy to develope a good temper and manners , following perfectly designed training schedules. There are several astray native dogs, residing where i usually go hiking and i have a very good bond with them. Reading this book made many of their behaviors and intentions clear for me , like the play bites , barkings and possessiveness. Now i can be sure I've bunch of tricks up in my sleeves the next time I'm going to visit them . I think I've learnt a lot abt humans aswell with this book. How we approach things instinctively vs how we can give it a thought and see not merely the action but the reason behind it and understand and adjust , so we don't lose the ppl we love. Just exactly the way you'd behave to your dog , since it's not like you're going to block your dog and never answer his calls after you quarrelled or one side is unpleades with the other :D

I think that I will not be a fan of Dunbar's works. His writing is the cornerstone for much of the behavior training we now have today, and it is important---but reading his two free books left a bad taste in my mouth. He comes across as a fear-mongerer, demanding perfection and adamant that any mistakes spells utter destruction!! Maybe he was trying to have some kind of dry humor or something? Honestly, there are better books with a much more realistic view (patricia mcconnell, brenda aloff, jean donaldson to name a few). If you are into dog training and behavior on a serious level and want to know as much as possible, then go ahead and read this book just to say you have.
