Review # 1 was written on 2018-09-23 00:00:00 Kevin Barry This now classic research-based book is required for anyone who is a serious student of the poor Latino student persistence challenges at the high school level. There is much research here for two books. Read this and you will treasure it as a valuable resource. I wished they had written a follow-up book.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-05-29 00:00:00 Patricia Miller Lots of great ideas here--student choice, real-life learning, process logs that turn into a first-person paper, peer sharing and peer evaluation. I don't know how much I can implement within our standards-based timeframe, but I'm going to try.
