This has been a very interesting book to get a history of the treatment of LGBT people in the Australian context. It is understandable that those who lived through this era may have reservations when accessing services, including health care, and the law. I was not aware that psychosurgery was performed in Australia, I had only previously heard of this in relation to nazi Germany's concentration camps. As it is said, "those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it", and although positive changes have occurred, the current LNP government of 2021, want to introduce laws that undo what has been achieved.

I bought every one of these that came out in the 1940s and early 1950s.
