Chapters 2 (Fin de Siecle) and 3 (WW1) were the most interesting to me, and they felt very thorough. I found it a little odd that we jumped straight from 1939 (chapter 3) to 1990 (chapter 4), when the other chapters had been so thorough with each time period leading on to the next. Although chapter 4 did touch on the 70s and 80s, it was largely concerned with the 90s, and specifically women in Newcastle. On the whole this was interesting, but it felt odd reading the last chapter without bridging the gap of time in between.

I am an expert at crocheting I was looking for a book to recommend to my niece who is learning to crochet. The stitch instruction looked ok but the patterns are dated (1970ish)and the instructions within the patterns were not well done. Also the layout of the book not show the pictures in a good place in relation to the patterns. I will continue looking for a good book to recommend.
