Review # 1 was written on 2011-02-22 00:00:00 Jonathan Dash Wow! I've been a life long Kansas and have enjoyed history, but I had not idea that Kansas history was so fascinating. This book was written in 1857 when the Kansas Territory became known as Bloody Kansas. After reading this I really think we need to relook at what we are teaching in Kansas History. It is easy to see how corrupt government can become and even unConstitutional. This was an easy read excluding some differences in word choices considering that the author is from the mid-1800s and English. I recommed this book for anyone intersed in Kansas, Civil War, or history. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-02-26 00:00:00 Lynne Villalba Going back to my shelves to clear out material. Good primer reminded me of what I had problems with and gaps in my general knowledge. It does well until the late 90s, and even for a bit later. I know that there has been some leaps in both technology and science, especially around dark matter. So, unfortunately, even though I liked the read, it will go into the dust pile. It did point me in the right direction to get caught up though. |
