Review # 1 was written on 2014-07-29 00:00:00 JAMES CARTER Lots of exotic flowers with step by step instructions for many. I'd have preferred if there were more tips on basic flower arranging though.

Review # 2 was written on 2014-04-25 00:00:00 Chuckie Jones Nate picked this book up at the Library. Generally, it is not one I would have gravitated to as the recipes seem fussy requiring ingredients to be brought to room temperature ahead of time and very specific instructions such as, "add the dry ingredients in 3 additions alternately with the milk in 2 additions". I am more of a dump it all in at once, whip it up a bit with an electric hand mixer & throw it in the oven type of cake baker. Usually works a treat & the rich frosting covers up any cracks or blemishes! Anyhow, Nate proceeded to make the "Caramelized Pear Upside-Down Gingerbread" following the step by step instructions. It was delicious! I am not particularly fond of gingerbread cake but the was amazingly moist & tasty! My turn next, I have chosen to try the "Spice Cake with Golden Raisins" as I could not believe my eyes when I read coriander, allspice & cayenne pepper in the ingredient list! Can cake including those spices really taste good?! Update: Yes, it really can taste good! The spices delight rather than overwhelm the senses & the honey glaze is a great match! However, due to the chewiness of the honey glaze & the softness of the fluffy cake it was a devil to serve! We ended up with a pile of cake pieces & lumps of glaze which we ate with ice-cream. It was delicious :)
