There are a lot of good things about this book. Nice pictures and descriptions on how to do the styles as well as great product descriptions just to name a couple. I really feel educated on what products are needed for what affects, and I will continue to reference this book in the future. A couple of the negative things is that he is addressing an upper-class socialite woman. Through reading the book I really hoped no one went to the hairstylist, colorist, etc., as much as the five woman from the book. It really distracted me. Also, and this is not the author's fault, but the styles are starting to show their age. I'm reading this 10 years from its copyright date and some of the styles (again I'm not for an elitist perspective) even I can tell are not in fashion. With all this being said, this is a good informative book. He does a fantastic job detailing products and when to use them. I found myself skimming repeated information toward the end, but otherwise I a good resource.

Not what I was expecting, but the over-grown fashionista atmosphere kept me amused. Between the wild step-by-step styles is a chick-flick tale of five NY girls. After a while...I got into it and was even waiting anxiously to see if Polly got Simon! LOL! Tie-dye hair and club bunny dos aside, there are some good tips in here! Like using a wet string to tie back a ponytail instead of an elastic. As it dries, it contracts, giving you an even tighter hold. Why have I never thought of unmangable hair or dandruff as signs of poor nutrition before? There are even a few crazy styles I'd like to try. Audrey Hepburn poof, anyone?
