I have to admit, I wish something bad for Wheeler's characters. My wish is that they would never resolve their insecurities and never find peace with contradiction because I really, really love that they're spilling it all out on the page and letting us laugh while we think "me too". I have dog-eared the heck out of this little volume with comics to thrust on others (the graphic organizer one depicting how every relationship ends in either lonely death or tragedy, the Christmas tree one, the aging one, the exercises in futility one, etc, etc, etc,) and there is one that I laughed at DESPITE MYSELF - one I would recommend to David, and Michelle and Bells. I'm coming to Wheeler's work a little late but I'm enjoying it none the less and can't wait to get a copy of I Thought You Would Be Funnier (hint hint, sibling that never has money but always has Powell's credit: September 2nd, 1970 ring a bell?)

I've been following Wheeler's work since the mid 90s, initially the Too Much Coffee Man comics, then the short-lived TMCM magazine, then on his blog and through the comics he'd post. It took me a little while to get used to the style he's adopted in recent years but now I love it. It varies between absurd, insightful and hilarious, and it's generally brilliant.
