Review # 1 was written on 2019-07-03 00:00:00 Gary Hill It seems to me the secret to a good "New Vanguard" book is to pick a very narrow topic, or a very general one. Either way the book does not become a mere collection of tables. This volume is a good example of the first case. With only 7 battlecruiser, Gary Staff has room to give us a succinct overview of the actions in which the ships were involved, and even mention why their names. I would have preferred if he had combined the technical details of the three classes in order to better appreciate their evolution, and maybe leave even more room for the operations. Although I might need to reread it again, I was very pleased with the description and diagrams of the armor they carried. It is certainly more complicated than "more bigger guns." |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-03-14 00:00:00 James Hoffine Probably the worst Osprey/ Vanguard I have ever read due to the author's heavy bias towards the German fleet. We all show a bias toward our interest, but this goes way beyond it. It does however provide good illustrations, specs and armour schemes so perfectly useable as a technical source. |
