Review # 1 was written on 2017-03-25 00:00:00 Tom Milford Read for work. Learned quite a bit about Tupac, although the written foreword was honestly more helpful in that regard; the comic itself depended on more prior knowledge of the main events of Tupac's life than I had to sort of the chronology of what was happening. The art was quite good but contains a lot of graphic violence and some fairly explicit sexual content in background scenes so I won't be able to use it for work after all. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-02-18 00:00:00 Chris Carver Full of strange, unforgettable characters and settings. I've read this one several times over the years and I'm still not sure what it all means, but Tanner strikes a cool balance between darkly hilarious and flat-out inscrutable. It's not every book that pulls you in for a hug and proceeds to lance a secret nightmare, but this one does just that for me. Here's a scan of a commissioned original (with characters from The Aviary) that Tanner did for me a few years back. |
