Review # 1 was written on 2020-02-22 00:00:00 Rodney Oei More of an overview than a translation... which I would have preferred, but really interesting. I have been interested in the tales of Merlin from their source because I am following the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and also learned that there were tales from AS Byatt who brought them alive in the 1800s part of Possession. Reading about these tales and their differences from the more Romanized-misogynistic British versions gave me a better impression of the tales. Still, I would have preferred translations to overviews. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-08-20 00:00:00 Koe Melk Excellent resource for Breton folklore and superstition. Would be even better if pejorative descriptors for people of color and other minorities were removed by modern editors. 5/5 as academic resource 0/5 for occasional bouts of imperialist white-dude language |
