This is a good solid Georgian mystery, although I didn't like it as much as previous books in the series. John Rawlings is headed home from buying apothecary supplies and finds a man who is in terrible pain from food poisoning. He takes the man home and cures him, or so he thinks, but the man still dies the next day. The whole situation is suspicious so of course John Fielding and the Bow Street Runners get involved. I figured out the "mystery" pretty early on. Mr. Rawlings spends a good portion of the book stressing out over his love interest(s) which was a bit less interesting to me as well. It's still worth the read though.

November 1758, and the Livery Dinner had just taken place at the Apothecaries' Hall. Unfortunately there was an outbreak of food poisoning, resulting in the death of one of the apothecarys. John Rawlings is suspicious of the death and investigates. This will not be the last death but what could the possible motive be. Another enjoyable mystery in this well-written series with its very likeable characters
