Review # 1 was written on 2014-03-30 00:00:00 Christopher Smith Dr. Rossman introduces the listener to different guided meditations that can be used as coping mechanisms for anxiety. The underlying idea is empowerment through self knowledge. In one of the sessions, Dr. Rossman brings the listener to their inner guide or teacher and encourages interaction (a series of questions and answers) with the internal self. What is always surprising to me, during meditations of this nature, is the clarity and unexpectedly relevant advice that comes out of the "inner guide". This was true for me in the past and also during Rossman's meditation. If you haven't practiced this type of meditation before, Rossman's CD is a great introduction to the process. After each meditation, Dr Rossman encourages the listener to take time to journal about their experiences. By having a record of your past lessons and successes, you can more accurately gauge your progress through your mental ups and downs and not be bogged down by the limitations of your memory which can change with time and your mood. A written record is an incredible tool for the treatment of any sort of mental disturbance as well as a fountain of knowledge about oneself. Dr Rossman is the first practitioner from the various audio programs that I've listened to, and I've listened to quite a few, to suggest such a practice.
