Review # 1 was written on 2014-11-23 00:00:00 Andrew Cohen The photographs are inspiring, but the book might be glorifying straw bale houses too much: they seem too good to be true. Where are the pitfalls? They're mentioned briefly, but let's have a more balanced perspective, eh? For example, a section on zoning laws as they relate to straw bale houses would've been relevant and helpful. Despite being regionally biased as well, with focus mainly on the Southwest, the book provides a good introduction to someone who's never heard of these monuments to sustainable architecture before. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-08-27 00:00:00 Deborah Lochart Been checking out straw bale homes lately. This book showcases various people's straw bale homes. A lot of them are southwest style homes, which I'm not interested in. It's a good book to leaf through to get an idea of what sort of straw bale home you might like. |
