This graphic novel tells the events of the Galveston Hurricane on 1900. The first page gives some history to 'set the stage'. Then it tells the story of the Sanders Family. Then, at the end it gives more information about things that they talked about in the story. Well done!

Railroad Fever is a book about the history of the Transcontinental Railroad. The text mentions many aspects of this very important event in America, such as the workers, the Great Race, and the passengers. All of this text is accompanied with real pictures as well as illustrations. This book was very specific. Its facts were detailed but at times could get boring. However, the real pictures sparked interest as well as the illustrations. The index and glossary are good resources in this book for students wanting to enrich their vocabulary and content knowledge. This book would be very useful in a classroom, especially if a student needed specific information on trains or the Transcontinental Railroad. This book can be used in a history class to help teach about the Transcontinental Railroad and its importance in U.S. History. This book can also be used as a resource when doing a report on trains or the Transcontinental Railroad. Halpern, M. (2003). Railroad Fever. New York, NY: National Geographic Society.
