Review # 2 was written on 2019-08-10 00:00:00 Sally Gilmore Summary: A Picture Book of Amelia Earhart is written by David A. Adler and illustrated by Jeff Fisher. This book is about the life of Amelia Earhart. Amelia was a tomboy and independent as she grew up. She went to college, but quit being a nurse during World War I. she went back to school to study automobile engine repair and medical research. Amelia moved back home and started flying lessons. She had many crash landings because the planes were not safe. While learning to fly, she worked as a social worker for immigrant children. Amelia flew over the Atlantic for the first time in 1928 and became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Evaluation of Illustrations and Text: The illustrations fill the pages with faint detail and color. The text is in short and long paragraphs per page. Strategies for Use in the Classroom: Activities- The students can write down the most important facts or what they want to remember about the life of Amelia Earhart. |
