Five Stars: An "Insight Into the World of Government Funding" Richard Helweg, author of "How to Get Your Share of the $30-Plus Billion Being Offered by the U.S. Foundations: A complete Guide for Locating, Preparing, and Presenting Your Proposal" gives a precise and detailed account of how to rise above the endless slush pile of rejected government funding proposals. This is truly a masterpiece of literature as each chapter is thoroughly outlined in detail describing researched information essential for business owners and individuals alike. This book is a compilation of 338 pages and 24 chapters that demand your complete attention. In saying that I am referring to the fact that by skipping one page you most certainly will miss vital information. To give the reader an example of how the process works he uses a fictional not-for-profit organization run by a fictitious character by the name of Amicitia Gardens. Through this character, he illustrates the fundamental process of locating, preparing, and presenting a proposal that even the most savoir-faire government official would take notice. As a writer and author, I have often considered applying for various government grants, but feeling inadequate as to the knowledge and process it for took I always declined. However, after reading Mr. Helweg's book I now feel confident that if I apply the information the author set forth my chances of acquiring funding drastically improve. A profound statement I took from the book was when he stated, "When you talk to people about your organization you must remember that what is important is not the fact that you are seeking funding, but that you have a mission. Your mission is not to raise money, but to assist families, neighborhoods, and organizations."
