The Everything Kids' Football Book, by Greg Jacobs This is an intermediate nonfiction book that can be used for independent reading or to share with an older football fan. I chose this book because Haidyn's interest inventory indicated he likes to read history, biography and sports books. His team is the Bears, and he likes Walter Peyton. This book tells the reader about the NFL's past, as well as the present, to include the great players, such as Walter Peyton. I also chose this book because it is formatted especially for kids. There are many different kinds of puzzles, mazes and activities scattered throughout this high-interest book. The cartoon graphics are intended for preteens and the bright red headings make finding specific topics easy. To hook Haidyn on this book I would say, "I thought of you when I read this book. It talks about Walter Peyton, and has some really cool football puzzles and activities you could do! Mr. Field is a Bears fan, too and didn't want to put the book down." Which is true, by the way!

I feel marginally less ignorant about football now. Looking forward to getting the boys in a flag-football league this year.
