Review # 1 was written on 2020-03-09 00:00:00 Stephanie Reichel A fun look at America, and naturally, as a big fan of porches, I love the cover. Smolan is a photographer trying to capture the inner world of American families. It's a fun journey. There's a slightly liberal edge in that he emphasizes that America is just as much Buddhist as it is Christian (!) but still, it's fun to page through the thing. Smolan is the same photographer who masterminded the projects of the 1980s/90s series, A Day in the Life of America [or Canada, Italy, Spain, China, etc.].
