Review # 1 was written on 2009-08-14 00:00:00 Alan Hirschfeld I like Feather as an author. She knows that romance readers are looking for a particular storyline, but she is willing to use the romance genre to tell good tales that keep her readers interested until the end. Meg Barrett is an unusual woman for her time (and for most regency romances). She is not intending to marry, she has had lovers and plans to have more. However, as the story starts her life is a bit dull. Good, but maybe boring. When Meg wakes up on a ship at sail, the boring parts have ended. Meg has been accidentally kidnapped. Feather shows us how Cosimo convinces Meg to help him with his plans and how their relationship grows. Although Meg is an unusual heroine, the romance runs true to form. Feather is a good enough author to carry off this slightly different love story. |
Review # 2 was written on 2011-03-19 00:00:00 David Killough I really enjoyed this unique plot. It was the perfect combination of seafaring romance and landlocked adventure. Espionage, intelligence, and coming to terms with new emotions. I really appreciated how intelligent and free spirited Meg Barratt was and that Cosimo didn't try to squash that out of her. If anything, it was at the top of the list of things he loved about her. I did feel like the book ended a bit abruptly, but since this was my first Jane Feather book, I was okay with it knowing that I have Almost a Bride next on my shelf. 4.5 Stars |
