Review # 1 was written on 2018-06-14 00:00:00 Raave J. "Busy in the Garden" is a collection of poems and riddles about planting, growing, dancing, and playing in the garden. Its whimsical illustrations and simple language make it very appealing to primary readers. The collection describes the many actions that accompany gardening - digging, planting, bending, picking, plucking, and tossing to name just a few. Its light-hearted approach to the joys of gardening take me back to my childhood when I spent time each spring and summer working side by side with my parents in our large vegetable garden. Oh, it was lots of work, and I am sure that there was much complaining on my part. However at the same time, there is something very satisfying and gratifying about getting one's hand dirty and seeing life sprout from those tiny dry seeds. I am now a grandmother with 3 busy grandsons, who love to play in the garden. They are now the 5th generation of gardeners - isn't that great? This is a book that I would enjoy sharing with them! |
