Summary Yuna has finally fallen in love with Rieno and can no longer resist him. But unlike all the other queens, Rieno has fallen in love with Yuna! Yuna has decided to ride off with Rieno to his hamlet of Dunkkar, but first she decides to say her goodbyes. But when she gets back to Elysian, everything is in ruins! The power of Yuna and Rieno's love, and the power of the curse has come raining down on Phantasma and Phantasma has been destroyed by lightning and fire. And so Yuna is forced to make the hardest decision of her life, choose Rieno and live happily while abandoning the people to suffer through winter or choose to abandon Rieno so she can protect the lives of her people as queen. Review I don't know about anyone else but it felt out of character to me for Rieno to love Yuna, because in every other volume, Rieno was cold, calculating, brooding, and uncaring. For him to admit his feelings for any other human is just unheard of! Why did it change all of a sudden? Regardless, even though it felt really out of character to me for Rieno to love Yuna, I couldn't help but soak up the love Yuna and Rieno have for each other. I really do love the romance between Rieno and Yuna. It's all been leading up to this. I love how Rieno and Yuna romantically stay in each others arms. But unfortunately it is too good to be true. One thing that is never explained well is why did their love cause all this destruction? How could this happen. And this is so unfair! I feel so bad for Yuna. She doesn't even have time to think about her feelings or what she wants. And she is forced to choose the people of Phantasma over her own happiness. It's the age old story of sacrificing one for the good of everyone else. But that isn't the true worst part. The worst part is they brought Yuna into this world, taking her away from her family and the same people that made her into queen, are ready to get rid of her the minute they think she is in love with Rieno. It's so unfair and so wrong! But what makes Yuna better than all the queens before her, is she really does choose the people over Rieno in her heart once she learns of the destruction. She really does want to protect the people of Phantasma and be a good queen, and she will always be the best queen of Phantasma because of that!

What first drew me to this series was the romantic historical aspect. I loved how a modern day girl gets pulled back into the past. I don't know what it is about those stories that attract me so much, maybe it is the difficulty for the girl of fitting in and having to rely on the guy so much to be able to get along in the world. I also really liked the group aspect to this series and the corresponding relationships that affect each of the characters. I would really recommend this series to fans of Red River, it has a lot of the same concepts.
