So I started reading this while working on getting my pilots license so I found it actually pretty helpful. Everytime I went up flying the short story format was always helpful for giving me a slightly different prespective on a lot of different areas of flight. Having that many different well known authors and that many different areas in aviation made for a great read so even without the mix with pilot training that it was a great read. It also was a good teaser for the various well known authors, eras and aviators for leading into a lot of other good reads.

A collection of stories both fiction and non-fiction. The stories themselves have a wide range from airliner crashes, the start of a cross continent trip in a Piper, to stories from jet pilots flying missions. The overall book is not an easy read. The constant changes in voice when switching authors makes this book difficult to site and read large chunks at a time. Best to read a story and come back at a different time. I found this book great for finding books I'd like to read in their entirety. The experts included while generally short are still enough to get a feel if the book covered would be worth a purchase.
