Review # 1 was written on 2013-12-22 00:00:00 Patrick Silverthorne As a general veterinarian's handbook for the lay person, this book is helpful and I imagine I'll use it as a resource in years to come. However, as a book on training and dog behavior, McGinnis's advice is appalling and medieval (she suggests picking dogs up by the scruff of their necks and shaking them around, along with pushing their faces into the floor to "teach them a lesson" and "assert dominance").

Review # 2 was written on 2017-07-15 00:00:00 Ben Ushler Absolutely the best book on raising a puppy. So much useful information and things you would never even think of! Great time lines on vaccines, housetraining, nutrition etc. Full of dos and don'ts. Best thing I've read and feel better prepared!
