Review # 1 was written on 2018-07-03 00:00:00 Carrie Morrison This book begins with advice on how to gather and clean natural specimens and then goes into various projects using natural subjects and specimens with mixed media techniques. All the projects have detailed and easy step-by-step instructions. The author offers tips on composition, distressing papers or fabric, and how to approach painting subjects. There is also a whole section in the back with gorgeous examples of artwork the author created using the techniques listed in the projects. I found a lot to love in this book and I took copious notes. I would highly recommend this to anyone who: wants to work natural materials into mixed media compositions; wants to create nature inspired artworks; or who wants creative ways to display their collection of dried plants and natural specimens (flowers, leaves, bird nests, eggs, twigs, seashells etc.).

Review # 2 was written on 2009-10-06 00:00:00 Robert Mckay WOW! LOVE the traced paintings. How lovely! And I really like the way she binds her journals, using everything from old photo album inserts to lace for the spines. Definitely not just for the nature lover. You can take this in several different directions. One of my birthday presents to myself this year. :)
