I read this because I am looking into a "species appropirate diet" for my carnivore cats. This is the first book I've read and have another on the way. This book has some great info (on cat nutrition) and some crazy talk in it (like making your cat flower water esssence and letting it sit out overnight to gather energy from the stars and moon). I only paid a penny for it on Amazon so it was worth the price but I hope to read more from authors who are either vets or cat nutritionists and hopefully aren't crazy and into garbage like reiki.

This book is especially good at a few things: Cats' diets, other basic cat care (like talking about the pros, cons, and necessities of each variety of litter), and dietary/herbal/homeopathic/etc. remedies to common cat issues, from emotional problems to skin flaking to diabetes. Like most natural cat care advocates, this author recommends a raw diet, and accordingly, there is an entire chapter devoted to homemade-meal recipes. However, she also understands that not all cat companions are both willing and able to provide a raw diet for their cat, and discusses in-depth the things to look for and to avoid in commercial cat foods, and includes a list at the end of the book of suggested ones. I found her explanations about cats' dietary needs (including variations from cat to cat) and her ideas for non-med fixes to common cat problems (including things as simple as switching food bowls, as some bowls can cause skin allergies in cats) to be especially helpful.
