Poorly written, poorly researched apology about a very complex man who lived in a time when there was a premium placed on public persona and the truth was considered a liability. I know Mr. Burr valued his privacy immensely and had a seemingly obsessive desire to remain under the radar. But this book trumpets as fact some things that are irrefutable falsehoods. Mr. Burr's story is one that should be told honestly now that 2 decades have elapsed since his passing, and I can only hope that Mr. Benevides finds the strength and the medium to tell the truth about Mr. Burr. The world is a different place now, and a true biography that tells of the strengths and weaknesses of the man who inspired so many will, almost assuredly, lift the clouds of doubt and speculation and reveal a man whose life tells a story that should be told, and, in the end, likely reveal a man who did much good for the world despite the unfair handicaps he faced.
