This book reads like a case study from business text book. I read only one chapter and that chapter was about Sony. The chapter is about Sony purchase of Columbia Pictures Entertainment from Coca Cola. One of the main reasons that they purchased the movie company was because of their loss with Beta Max to VHS. They figured if they owned the movie company and was able to dictate their format of distribution of video cassette - they would have won with Beta Max. (In someway, I guest it did work. They won the DVD battles and Blue Ray is looking like the new standard format. It just took almost 20 years for it payout). I also thought it was interesting that Coca Cola originally bought Columbia Pictures for the synergy it had with their soft drink.

A should-read book on product development for knowledge workers and entrepreneurs.
