Review # 1 was written on 2012-12-19 00:00:00 Scott Becker I spent the major part of young adulthood listening to people speak of the arrogance of Paul Keating, the hubris, the Italian suits, the rudeness, the piggery. But deep down I knew these were all just trivialities with this man. To all the dopes who thought they knew what was going on during the 80s and 90s politically speaking and to all the ADHD short media grabbers of today's politicians, you must read this book to understand how Paul Keating saved this country from being a third world economy and allowed us to survive not just one global recession but two. It's a reminiscence to the days when Labour governments made policy and made changes for the greater good.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-09-04 00:00:00 Patricia Pinkston An excellent read outlining the lead up to Keating's sweeping economic reforms and the position Australia finds itself in now, after Howard and Costello's premature termination of the plan he had in place. H & C aren't entirely to blame, the ALP was also complicit in its death. Highly recommended if you want an understanding of how Australia was pulled out of irrelevance to become a player in the international economy.
