Review # 1 was written on 2015-08-27 00:00:00 Ivy Carreno I checked out this book for the section on Sara Estela Ramirez, which I found very useful, even though it reproduces much of his chapter in vol 3 of Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage, "Confronting la Frontera, Identity and Gender: Poetry and Politics in La Crónica and El Democrata Fronterizo." I admire Mendoza's efforts to recover Ramirez's lost works, as well as his frequent and heartfelt thanks to the scholars who preceded him in excavating Ramirez's legacy (Ines Hernandez-Avila nee Tovar and Emilio Zamora). Though my current deadline prohibits me from reading the rest of the book, I know from skimming the prologue that I'll come back to it, preferably a copy of my very own! |
Review # 2 was written on 2007-08-20 00:00:00 Michael McLauchlin I was there while this book was being imagined and drafted. How could I not love this book? It's excellent. |
