Review # 1 was written on 2018-04-20 00:00:00 David Lessard All the things that aren't there anymore.....kind of a melancholy book in some ways. Buildings don't last forever, grand landscapes can quickly revert to wildness. We love the mystery of ruins for some reason. But it seems such a waste that some of these places were lost. The surprising thing I learned was that being listed as a Historic Place/Property/Landscape really means nothing in the long run. Many of these ruins have been registered as such and are still decaying or have been destroyed. Besides documenting these places, this book is also a nice history of the Hudson Valley as he gives a brief background to each ruined place.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-06-27 00:00:00 Sebastien Nelis Excellent book. Seems to be well researched. And one that made me sad & nostalgic, to be able to recognize and remember so many of these historic places that are no more.
