This great book really does give that bit extra explanation that the manual is missing. Reading it gets you started in a medium amount of time, but with a very clear idea how everything fits together and what is possible. It also discusses general theory and techniques of visualisation and graphical analysis.

This book is a good introduction and reference to Gnuplot, but where it really shines is with its gentle introduction to managing datasets.I use it more as a reference than as a tutorial. If you use Gnuplot, it's indispensable.
