This is much more than just a cutting manual. Think of it more like a crash course in the basics for anyone wanting to learn about Japanese swords. It covers care, repair, transportation and simple identification (handy to tell if that old sword is a mass produced gunto or something too valuable to be swinging at targets) as well as how to make new fittings and mountings using western tools. I don't agree with the author on all points, but this book is both broad in scope and useful in its depth, and will probably have something to offer any enthusiast.
