Whimsy, actually named Wilhelmina, must navigate life as the energetic daughter of a single mom, and she does so with aplomb. She's a delightful character, and she really grows into a fine young lady in the sequel to this, A Life of My Own, which I enjoyed even more than this first entry. Perhaps Lisa McKendrick has more to say and will finish what I assume is a trilogy about Whimsy? I love McKendrick's style and storytelling.

One of my favorite books! Will read over and over again.
