Review # 1 was written on 2020-11-01 00:00:00 Steve Bellows Tara Pays Up! is a story about a girl who saves up her money to buy a t-shirt kit. She is caught off guard when the total rings up as $16.80 when the price tag shows $16.00. Tara does not understand why she has to pay taxes when she does not use public services. Her sister agrees to pay the tax for her if Tara gives her 10 cents each time she uses a public service. Little does she know, Tara will be dishing out more dimes than she ever imagined. I plan to use this book in my fourth grade classroom as part of a text set. It will help me present the topic of taxes to my students. We will explore how and why taxes are collected and used. |
