I am a big fan of this biographical series for intermediate grade readers. This title was a perfect read after my recent visit to the George Eastman Museum & Home in Rochester, NY. I knew very little about this philanthropic inventor other than he founded the Eastman Kodak Company. Mr. Eastman worked his way to becoming a millionaire from a childhood of poverty with his widowed mother and older sisters. He quit school at the age of 13 to become "the man of the family" and worked hard at every turn in life. He was an American who earned his fortune rather than inherit it, and he found happiness sharing it in many ways. This concise and uplifting biography with interesting historical photos was perfect for this reader who just wanted the basics about Mr. Eastman in a quick read.

He was a photographer in the late 1877's. He started out in the carribean. He invented the first Kodak camera. This would be a good book to have children read for a history paper. I really like that the book went into detail about his life ( I know it is a biography, but still..) It had pictures to go along with it to illustrate what was happening.
