The skilled, scientific author offers her readers a fun experience through a day in this North American biome. Rebecca L. Johnson is the award-winning author that offers a series of scientific books to explore, this one being a realistic depiction of the Sonoran Desert, that would be wonderful additions to an elementary classroom. The illustrations, created by Phyllis V. Saroff, are beautiful and unique, a fun addition to photographs, that offer bonus information throughout the book. A Walk in the Desert offers all the basic text features as most informational books in a more subtle and realistic approach that children can learn from and enjoy.
