I was given this book and as a result I found it promising upon first look. The subject matter is interesting while I hadn't ever really thought about using satellite maps to go sightseeing. May have to give it a go when I have some more time and a computer whose screen isn't smashed. As for the presentation of the book I wasn't a fan of that. The book had a great introduction that was full of information but then the actual entries although a bit informative were also a bit too tongue-in-cheek. Some were trying to be funny I believe but lost the mark and there was one entry where it didn't even finish at all just left the writing hanging. Some of the pictures were a little too grainy but then again I understand it was from a different satellite. Other photos were fascinating but in a brief digital sightseeing I wouldn't understand how the men would be able to tell what they were looking at right away so maybe there should have been a section to help new digital sightseers. All in all it was decent and a good way of introducing a new subject of interest. For those who like the randomness this may be a decent book for them but as for me I wish it had been provided in another style than it was.

Listened to it on Hoopla. Rather dry and very much like reading a travel journal. He had published it as a book so I wasn't expecting that. The descriptions are amazing, but without the maps and illustrations it was hard to get a grasp of where he was and what it looked like. I would imagine a much better book to read than listen to. Incredibly sad to here the description of Glen Canyon which seemed like a more gorgeous and intimate Grand Canyon on to know that it is now under a thousand feet of water and gone due to the Glen Canyon Dam. Glad this didn't happen to the Grand as originally planned. Headed to the Grand in 1 month so a great prep.
