Review # 1 was written on 2020-07-04 00:00:00 Albert Frazier This is my kind of travel guide - it made me want to visit Key West today. Even in the brutal heat and humidity of July. I want to visit the homes of the writers who have lived and worked in that funky little town, 90 miles away from Cuba. This book was breezy, entertaining, and informative with the right balance of Hemingway, Tennessee Williams and a crap ton of other writers. As an added bonus, there was a chapter on places to eat and drink and a reference to the book store where I bought this book, Key West Island Books. (I know that because the store book mark was still in the book from my visit there two years ago.) Also a bonus (dare I say a necessity) was the index and a section on further reading. I love when writers include a further reading section to further encourage readers to investigate the subjects that interest them. Bonus, bonus is the size of this book allows the reader to carry it in pocket while touring the points of interest on the island. The next time I go to Key West, I will try to remember to bring this book and I want very much to take a tour of the Writers' Walk, which is a guided tour of 80 writers who live on the island. (I didn't make that up. See page 57.) I give this book 4 and a half glittering conch shells.

Review # 2 was written on 2018-09-17 00:00:00 Julio Reyes The author has taken a compelling, important theme and hidden it behind heavy academic-speak and meaningless catchphrases. While the book was too frustrating to finish, the many works mentioned give good ideas for further reading.
