Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-07 00:00:00 Chris Sigouin Good book that gives an insight into how Lois Ehlert writes her books and why she became an illustrator and writer. She talks about her books and how they came about. She goes into detail on how she comes up with her ideas and what she likes to do while creating her books and when she needs new ideas.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-10 00:00:00 Leslie Ross The text doesn't read like poetry but the line breaks and short choppy sentences sometimes suggest it. My guess is that Ehlert is more comfortable writing the text for her picture books and found it hard to transition to something longer and more involved but still meant for children. Offering the briefest details of her life, the book focuses on the evolution of her art and writing. I would have liked to read more about her. However, if one were to delete those few biographical details and combine this book with her recent "Scraps" the result would be a wonderful "How I Do It" book.
