The book promised to be funny, but then the author, who is a counselor in practice, started to sound more serious, like she was trying to sneak the reader into reading the book with a little humor to start with and then "tell" the reader how to cope with life's difficulties. I am one of those people who doesn't always appreciate specific advice (because people are so different, and what works for one person may not work for all); most of the time, with love and support and laughs, I can come up with my own coping skills just fine. I was hoping this book would be about humor as a coping strategy in itself, but I didn't feel it was that at all. I would have preferred it if she had funny stories all the way through and let them be the lesson, without the subtle "coping strategies" thrown in there between the lines. Her humor got Less Funny as the chapters went on, unfortunately, and that stinks b/c I really wanted it to be funny! Sometimes ya just need a laugh! And it got a bit old as she delved into her own life more and more. It kinda felt more about her, and like she thought she would "teach" the reader through just her personal and family life experiences, but not in a way I felt was worthwhile to read about. Not a terrible book, just was not what I expected it to be by the description of it.

Short--about 145 pages--book of how to keep perspective when the world is crashing around you. In that respect, short is good. However, short also means "not deep." And this is not a book that will cause anyone any thinking pains. It's vaguely amusing, but not helpful except in the sense of "thank goodness I'm not living her life." Took me all of 45 minutes of concentrated reading to finish this...but somehow it's two weeks overdue. That should sum it up completely.
