This is a memoir of the publisher William Jovanovich (Harcourt, Brace, Jovanovich). It has many interesting vignettes, but no real organizati0n. It is just a string of tales from his life. I enjoyed the tales of his life as the son of a Montenegrin Serb immigrant and of the many famous writers and publishers he knew, but I wish it had been more of a biography, I guess.

Vassi has a reputation as an erotic writer, but with this one, I was too busy flipping the pages to fondle myself. It's a story that may cause you to erupt in laughter or cringe in embarassment as the protagonist goes from the guru con to the drugs con to the sex con to the psychology con (where he nearly goes stark raving sane working in a mental hospital).
