I'm not much for the idea of cleanses, at least how they tend to personify themselves in western culture. However well-intentioned they are, more often than not they seem to be misguided embodiments of the idea that there is some "miracle" cure out there for what ails you, be it some zany diet consisting only of hog fat and radishes, or subsisting solely on lemon water and cayenne for two weeks in the name of bodily "strength". Compounding this notion is the fact that much of the cleansing literature out there seems heavily steeped in new-agey spiritual mumbo jumbo, if not outright motivated by it. In many senses, this book seems to be no different. Though I make no claims to have a professional understanding of anatomy or physiology, I am nonetheless able to read a book such as this with a healthy amount of scientific skepticism, and indeed, under the scalpel of science, several parts in this book do not hold up to rational argument, and in some cases, seem downright misleading. (It's important to note that I am not attempting to argue against the veracity of this book's contents, merely its presentation.) In many instances, the author makes dubious claims, presented as fact, without any source or reference material, e.g., the beneficial effects of drinking ionized water. At other times, Moritz seems to blur the line between causation and correlation, inviting the reader to draw fallacious conclusions that, of course, only support the thesis that this cleanse will solve all of your ailments. (A good example is in the very first chapter, where the author writes "If you suffer from the following symptoms, or similar conditions, you most likely have numerous gallstones in your liver and gallbladder:", followed by a list of sixty-some afflictions, including depression, hepatitis, nightmares, cancer and obesity. After reading this book, I'm fairly convinced that most everyone has numerous gallstones, unless they've done something to flush them out; Moritz comes dangerously close to leading the reader to believe that these symptoms are actually caused by the presence of gallstones, and therefore can be cured by their subsequent removal.) All this said, if you approach this book with an open mind and an appropriate amount of caution, you can sift through the nonsense and repetition and see that, hey, this guy may actually be on to something. I, for one, was interested in this cleanse because I have certainly done more than my fair share of abuse to my liver, and thought it might be a good idea to do something nice for it after all it has done for me (I have no other major ailments to speak of.) I finished my first cleanse just a few hours ago, and it's hard to argue with results. I most certainly did pass several stones just as the book suggested I would, and I feel fine (certainly no worse). I will probably continue doing this cleanse at least a few more times, as suggested; certainly there doesn't seem to be any harm in doing so, except for the minor inconvenience it requires. Yeah. I liked the cleanse. But please, read the book and decide for yourself. And above all, don't believe everything you read; this world has enough pseudo-science in it already.

Since my children were born a few years ago I have struggled with some really annoying issues. I developed Rosacea which for those of you who don't know means my face is constantly red and irritated and I break out in sore itchy bumps that are not acne. I have also had about 20-25 lbs that refuses to go away for any length of time. Iniatially for the rosacea I saw a doctor who recommended putting me on antibiotics. Not something I want to do for any length of time. And its doesnt cure the problem anyway. I have prowled Rosacea help sites trying any sort of supplement or cream that anyone had anything positive to say about it. Most recently what has worked pretty well is taking probiotics, Hcl with pepsin and B vitamins daily (digestive aids and stomach acid along with the vitamin I think my body has been missing). Of course, as soon as I stop or miss a day I start breaking out again. And I break out a little regardless. So when a couple friends started talking about this I thought maybe this could help. From some of the things I've read issues with the skin are suppose to indicate a liver problem. Okay, really I thought they were crazy and that the gallbladder cleanse had nothing to do with me, but the more I heard the more intriged I became. I borrowed the book and read it in about 1 night. What he talked about just made sense. I summed it up for my husband as "If you had a car that the oil and fuel filters were completely full of gunk and fluids couldn't flow properly the car would eventually stop running and well that is your colon, liver and gallbladder in your body". Surprisingly he got on board as well. Now Mr. Moritz claims that this process can help cure everything from tooth decay to cancer. Not sure about that, but if the body is gummed up, it certainly makes sense that it cannot heal itself the way its meant to. It takes about 6 days to set up for the cure. Drinking lots of apple juice, cranberry juice or whatever you can handle that has malic acid in it to soften the stones. The cleanse itself is done over night. Prepare to feel like crap for the night and tired the next day. I had a terrible headache and my husband actually had sweats. The next day he passed what he estimated as about 150 dime to nickel size stones (his father just has his gallbladder removed so I was thrilled that he had success and might stave off that issue). I had much smaller ones, sand or rice size and wasnt even sure that I had much success. The following day we both felt better, lots more energy and less aches and pains. I notices right away that my skin all over was no longer dry and seemed smoother. Then as I was doing laundry I realised that I could read the tags on my kids pj's and underwear. Something I have not been able to do for at least a year! This was not something I was even looking for! I highly recommend anyone have a look at this and see for themselves if it makes sense to them.
