Review # 1 was written on 2017-11-13 00:00:00 James Saito I always learn something when I read or listen to Mr. Schindler - and this book was no exception. Filled with exquisite photos of invitations and dance cards, it is also a solid introduction into the history of the older Mardi Gras krewes and societies. My only complaint is that some of the photos, although beautiful, were not enlarged enough to fully appreciate the detail in them. A definite recommend for those interested in Mardi Gras history. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-01-31 00:00:00 Dane Thomson Excellent history of the Mardi Gras balls from the 19th through early 20th Centuries lavishly illustrated with ball invitations, dance cards and tickets - along with some illustrations from the same period. I only wish that some of the details of some of the tiny pieces of artwork had been shown in greater detail. |
