This is the book that our local Lye-berry told me was "too academic" for the county's populace and wouldn't order it for the collection...so I ordered it myself! ;D

I recommend this book to every practitioner of Santeria/Lucumi, and even scholars wanting to learn more about history of cuban Lucumi. This book goes into detail about the many lineages founders, including the one I belong to, Oba'Tola ( Aurora ' La China' Morales) as well as Eshu Bi 'Pata Palo'. Also, the book contains fantastic colored photographs of many Olorishas' Orisha rooms, where the Orishas' altars are kept. They are all very beautiful, and definitly makes a statement of contradiction to all those cheap hollywood movies defacing the religion. This book also goes on to tell about the Godfather ( mentor in the religion) of one of the presidents of Cuba. If you are interested not only in the practices of Lucumi, but the history on how it came to be and who made it so, this book is definitly worth the time and effort obtaining it.
