A book that quotes Laura Ingalls Wilder, Louisa May Alcott, L M Montgomery, and Gone with the Wind pretty much means I need it. The quote from the book of Ruth is a good plus.

I actually first read this back in 2001 when I was given this by a good friend as a wedding present. It's a beautiful volume full of selections of romantic prose and poetry. I noticed this on my shelf recently, and picked it up and reread it. Some of it resonates more with me now that I've been happily (re) married for several years. But all of it is sweet. The poetry by Anne Bradstreet is my favorite: If ever two were one, then surely we if ever man were loved by wife, than thee if ever wife was happy in a man compare with me, ye woman, if you can. I enjoyed the other selections as well, and now that I thought to add this to my list of books read, I also thought to add the books quoted that I haven't read yet to my to-read list. Some of them are really old, so old they're not even listed here on Goodreads, and are expensive to find on Amazon. But I'm excited about all the other sweet old fashioned love stories that have been added to my queue. Judging from the selections I read, I should have happy reading for quite awhile.
