Review # 2 was written on 2021-01-27 00:00:00 Karl Thiry Author and Illustrator: Patrick Burston & Atelier Philippe Harchy Age Recommendation: Pre-School/Kinder Art Style: Bright psudorealism Topic/ Theme: Adventure and Exploration. Setting: A Pirate Ship Series: Vivez l'Aventure (trans. Live the Adventure) Do you know how long its been since I eve saw a choose your own adventure book? I was a child. I saw this on the shelf in the house Im housesitting and I had to read it. This was my cousins when she was a child, its now her nieces. It is fun using the hunt for a diamond as its lure. The reader has an aid, a not always helpful fox called Rusty. Regardless of which paths the reader takes there will be similar problem-solving exercises, counting, pathfinding, differentiating. Even as an adult I didnt get there on the first try, so it isnt straight forward. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing, that definitely gives it repeatability. I quite like the art style, its fun and perfectly suits the story. |
